Darauf, davon, damit and es before German dass clauses

Keep the preposition inside the reference word

A whole clause can express the content of a complement. Davon retains von, darauf retains auf, and damit retains mit. These are not interchangeable decorations: changing the word can break the expression’s construction.

Wir rechnen damit, dass die Lieferung später kommt.

We expect the delivery to arrive later.

Move a subject clause without adding another subject

Compare Es steht fest, dass sie kommt with Dass sie kommt, steht fest. In the integrated clause-first version, the initial clause occupies the position before the main finite verb. Do not insert another es between them.

Dass alle Zugang haben, ist entscheidend.

That everyone has access is crucial.

Do not apply one deletion rule to all verbs

Ich bedauere, dass du gehst and Ich bedauere es, dass du gehst can both occur. This does not make the reference word optional in darauf bestehen, dass. Check the lexical construction, not just the spelling of the small word.

Die Leiterin besteht darauf, dass wir nachfragen.

The manager insists that we ask.
